UP vs ATENEO

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Okay, so there really is no battle between the two. I mean, UP for me has no worthy rivals while Ateneo’s famous rival is La Salle. Haha! They are just my and Josh’s Alma Maters.

As most of you don’t know, I am way ahead of Joshua when we were in school. I was 15 when I entered college and he was also 15 when he was in 2nd year high school. Haha. Since he studied in Ateneo, he had to go through Grade 7. He even went through Nursery, Kindergarten, and Prep while I only had to go through Kindergarten once before I stepped into Grade One, and yes, wala kaming Grade 6. In other words, isang taon lang ako nag-aral tapos Grade 1 na agad. Yun. (Yabang no? Haha.) Basta student number ko 99, sya 02. Graduate ako ng ‘03 sya ‘06. Tsk. I’m 25, he’s 24. I’m 5′7″, he’s 5′X”.

So what’s the point? Wala. It just so happened Josh and I visited our schools last Friday, Aug. 22, because he needed to get a copy of his diploma for his new job (yey!). Since he was going, I decided to go too and get mine from UP after what, 5 years? Gosh. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I’ve only been to Peyups five times since I submitted my thesis. First time to get my Sablay, second for my graduation, third to have dinner at Chocolate Kiss, fourth after we visited the Mango Farm and I wanted to eat at Rodics, and lastly, for our pre-nup shoot.

Josh, on the other hand, hasn’t been to Ateneo since his graduation so imagine his excitement that he’d be going to what has been his 2nd home for almost two decades. He’s a Blue Blooded Atenean, meaning he studied Grade School, High School, and College there. And he’s very, very, very proud of that. (Hay naku sakit sa ulo.) Read the rest of this entry »

Climb Every Mountain

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Climb every mountain, search high and low
Follow every by way, every path you know
Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream
A dream that will need, all the love you can give
Everyday of your life, for as long as you live

Officially Official

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

It’s official: I’m a Padla now. I now have a formal ID that bears my new surname. And tomorrow, I shall get another one.

And it’s official: I can drive without any companion. Haha! After a year of just using a student permit, I braved LTO San Juan to get a non-pro driver’s license. I could live another year without it but the permit’s validity is only up to May 4. Why I had to wait a year just to get one? Well, I was waiting to actually get married and my surname changed so I won’t have to get a new one after January. Okay, so maybe I’m too old to finally get one since most of my friends got theirs when they turned 18 and are now driving for more than 6 years but I only got to seriously and formally learn how to drive last year. I felt before there wasn’t a need since I’ve got my dad and the boyfriend…now, my husband. But I need to get an ID now and since I don’t work for any company, the driver’s license I think is the easiest to get.

So anyhoo, I met up with JC at 6:30 am(!!!) so we could get to the SJ branch before 7. Took the drug test, medical exam, filled up an application form, attended a lecture, and waited for 8 am. I think we were among the first ten in line but it took us 6 hours to get our licenses! Actually, less for JC. I just found it weird that I went after him and yet I got mine an hour late. He was always called first. But that was okay. What I hated most was the waiting and the summer heat. My goodness! I thought I was gonna faint, really. No AC at the waiting floor. Not enough chairs. And the employees were all so masungit! Read the rest of this entry »

Vatel Manila : PADLA-BUNSOY (January 20, 2008)

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Aside from Mike of Mango Farm, Dylan Gozum of Vatel Manila wrote a very touching article on his blog re our wedding. Read the rest of the entry below:

Today, we debuted our newest ceremony setup, a take on a setup that was first done in Pearl Farm, Davao in 2007. This isn’t exactly like it but it’s almost there - clean and pretty.

The aisle flowers used were only the yellow chyrsanthemum and calla lily. They were joined by really nice pine tree needles, iris, and rosal to make for a striking arrangement that is both clean and suitable for the site of the wedding.

For the first time, the gazebo’s reverse side was used. This setup was supposed to have been used last December 26, which was postponed at the last minute. Read the rest of this entry »

We’re back from Bora. =)

Mike of Mango Farm posted an entry re our wedding.

Here’s the article:

The series of pics here is from Dylan of Vatel Manila. Thanks Dylan for another cerembeautesque! haha

Once a cabana, once a dining “room”, and now an altar…. these transformations give new meaning to the word “purposeful”.

The Night Before the Wedding

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

My bestfriend Cecille and I decided to get the same bridal suite for another night. That is the night before the wedding. It was a tiring day for me because we had the wedding rehearsals in the morning, had lunch at Something Fishy in the afternoon, tried to bring Digory to the “hospital”, and packed some more stuff.

In the evening, we went to Megamall for some last minute shopping. I bought a bag that perfectly matched my shiny shawl. We had our manicure and pedicure, bought food from McDonald’s, then rushed back to the hotel because Caloy of 13 Needles was already waiting.

I asked Joshua’s band to play while I sing as a surprise for Josh but only Caloy, one of the guitarists, was available. Practice, kwento, and a bit of fishing re the stag party. Haha.

For the first time that week, I was able to sleep early. Of course, I had to. My girlfriends Ce and Net prayed for me before I slept and prepped for the next day’s craziness.

Footspa!

Wedding Invitation

Monday, January 14th, 2008

The invites are out! I first posted a Save the Date card on Multiply and sent an e-mail to the invited friends. (But by the time you read this, the wedding and honeymoon are over.)

Josh and I both loved the invitation. It was designed by Ptr. Patrick Tan , aka as my bestfriend Antonette’s boyfriend, and yeah, future husband. Hehe.

I already had a concept in mind but my Photoshop skills are limited. I needed someone to do the design and have the invitation printed.

Then Kuya Jeric, a friend, churchmate, Ate Mean’s husband, and Antonette’s bro-in-law, and again, yeah, Patrick’s future bro-in-law too, drew a caricature of me and Josh. I just changed the color a bit, made the RSVP card, map to the farm, and “the little note”.

PaperWorks Megamall printed the invites. Got them last Dec. 26, 2007 but didn’t distribute them right away. . At first, I was pissed because I thought the color was neon green. I was fuming mad at the counter and was telling the saleslady that I will not pay. And there was one error, instead of Francis Concio, Frans’ surname was written as Conio. Pffft. And whose fault, mine. So Josh and I decided will just print at home.

It was only when I got home that I appreciated the invites. Turned out the neon green effect was only because of the store’s light. Oh yeah, the yellow color was just perfect!
