Bente-Singko

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

25 na siya. Yak. The surprise party last Saturday was for our family and friends. We definitely needed to go on a birthday date so we did before November 10 officially ended.

We ate the cinnabon, very sinful treat..a gift by the food expert on his birthday eve. Sinful indeed! Kasarap sabi ni Josh and I so agree. More! More! More!

Anyway, we went to Astralis on his birthday, a restaurant by Diamond Hotel. We learned about it over Clickthecity and since Josh wanted their angus beef, we gave it a try.

I can’t write about food because I’m more of an eater than a writer(ha!) but I can say that our $31 bill was oh so worth it. :D

Yun lang. Happy Birthday ulit! Ano birthday present mo sa kin? Hahaha!

Here are some photos:

UP vs ATENEO

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Okay, so there really is no battle between the two. I mean, UP for me has no worthy rivals while Ateneo’s famous rival is La Salle. Haha! They are just my and Josh’s Alma Maters.

As most of you don’t know, I am way ahead of Joshua when we were in school. I was 15 when I entered college and he was also 15 when he was in 2nd year high school. Haha. Since he studied in Ateneo, he had to go through Grade 7. He even went through Nursery, Kindergarten, and Prep while I only had to go through Kindergarten once before I stepped into Grade One, and yes, wala kaming Grade 6. In other words, isang taon lang ako nag-aral tapos Grade 1 na agad. Yun. (Yabang no? Haha.) Basta student number ko 99, sya 02. Graduate ako ng ‘03 sya ‘06. Tsk. I’m 25, he’s 24. I’m 5′7″, he’s 5′X”.

So what’s the point? Wala. It just so happened Josh and I visited our schools last Friday, Aug. 22, because he needed to get a copy of his diploma for his new job (yey!). Since he was going, I decided to go too and get mine from UP after what, 5 years? Gosh. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I’ve only been to Peyups five times since I submitted my thesis. First time to get my Sablay, second for my graduation, third to have dinner at Chocolate Kiss, fourth after we visited the Mango Farm and I wanted to eat at Rodics, and lastly, for our pre-nup shoot.

Josh, on the other hand, hasn’t been to Ateneo since his graduation so imagine his excitement that he’d be going to what has been his 2nd home for almost two decades. He’s a Blue Blooded Atenean, meaning he studied Grade School, High School, and College there. And he’s very, very, very proud of that. (Hay naku sakit sa ulo.) Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Time…

…to SAVE. Yeah right. You just won’t believe how much cash I’ve spent last month. I won’t tell but let’s just say it’s more than what I’ve earned last month. My savings accounts nearly gone. Almost kaput. Sigh. I just wish I could have thought about my decisions more. I bought a TM, T w, G w, 3 bags, a DSLR, and more than 10 dresses. Plus I treated my family to a handful of free dinners last month during special occasions. Why, the dresses I shopped for are enough to last me ’til the end of the year. That is, if I only decide to wear one new dress for each month.Haha! Okay, okay, it’s the shopaholic in me striking again. But seriously, I want to stop. I need to. I have to lest I want to experience poverty. And afte all, all these are utterly meaningless.

Maybe I should get another savings accounts that I won’t and can’t touch this time. Like this one from WaMu which I think could help me more with my saving goals. I have a few bank accounts under my name but I’d like to try a new company with its online savings, statement savings, and CD services that I know I could very well benefit from. I just hope though opening savings accounts in my area is already available.

Sigh. Just one big sigh.

Kwentong Itim

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Seryoso. Nakakaawa.

Oo na. Isipin nyo na ang gusto nyong isipin. Batuhin nyo na ako. Ngayon lang naman to nangyari eh. Na naging sobrang itim. Kasi yung mga dati, medyo itim lang. Pero ano bang magagawa ko, nagtatrabaho ako. Tama nga ang sabi nila, you can’t serve two masters alone. Naks.

Pero sino bang hindi nakakasunog ng niluto? As in never? Lamang lang kayo kasi dark brown sa inyo. Sa kin eh itim na.

Yun lang. Here’s to more blackness.

Wifely Duty No. 1 : Cook Husband’s Breakfast

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I don’t know how to cook. I just know how to fry. So last Thursday, Joshie was fortunate to taste the result of my cooking : FRIED EGG and HEATED PORK TERIYAKI! Sure, we had dinner the night before but that fateful Thursday morning, I surprised him by preparing his breakfast. We didn’t have any ref, stove, and kitchen tables then so I used this magic breakfast maker that will allow me to heat, toast, and fry–a gift from my cousin.

Here’s my first kitchen set-up:

Oh well, the teriyaki from our FIRST OFFICIAL MEAL TOGETHER should not be included because it was my mom who prepared that. I just re-fried it. Hehe. That was Joshua’s first full breakfast.

But since Sunday, we’ve got our ref already. It’s just a small, personal ref. And yesterday, I asked my mom to buy us a small stove so I can finally cook. I did again this morning. FRIED EGG and PORK TAPA. Not cooked…rather FRIED. But atleast, that’s something. Not a lot of people can do that right?! You know, fry with flying colors? Hehe.

Take a peek into MY kitchen :

My first stove on the floor. No kitchen table yet.

See? Everything’s on the floor except for the tiny ref. Hihi.

First Official Meal Together

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Josh and I have been married for exactly 10 days. We’re onto our 5th night at our new apartment. Which by the way, will only be our humble abode for one month because we’re moving out again next month. Anyway, it was only last night that we had our meal together at our place and on the new dining table. I didn’t cook but thanks to my mom who prepared and gave me some port teriyaki so I can feed Josh dinner. My parents were asking me to wait for him at their place (my old house) but I insisted to go home early so I can prepare before Josh gets home. It was a success! Josh was surprised that I prepared a meal for us. Ummm..make that, I prepared the table for him.

Dining table and chairs new ; plates and drinking glasses - borrowed from the Viscas ; utensils - new from Germany ; salt shaker new from SM Dept Store ; placemates - wedding gift from I forgot (sorry) ; candle and candle holder - new from SM ;  Maggi Savor - seal not yet broken from Rustan’s Supermarket

Josh enjoying his dinner. My plate was empty because I already ate. :D

So what’s for dinner tonight? Andok’s chicken!

The Night Before the Wedding

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

My bestfriend Cecille and I decided to get the same bridal suite for another night. That is the night before the wedding. It was a tiring day for me because we had the wedding rehearsals in the morning, had lunch at Something Fishy in the afternoon, tried to bring Digory to the “hospital”, and packed some more stuff.

In the evening, we went to Megamall for some last minute shopping. I bought a bag that perfectly matched my shiny shawl. We had our manicure and pedicure, bought food from McDonald’s, then rushed back to the hotel because Caloy of 13 Needles was already waiting.

I asked Joshua’s band to play while I sing as a surprise for Josh but only Caloy, one of the guitarists, was available. Practice, kwento, and a bit of fishing re the stag party. Haha.

For the first time that week, I was able to sleep early. Of course, I had to. My girlfriends Ce and Net prayed for me before I slept and prepped for the next day’s craziness.

Footspa!

Wearing my favorite dress. Eeep! Ang taba ko na!

My current state.

Glad to be alive.

Few more hours then I’ll be a wife.

Pray that the weather will be good, people will be blessed, and God will be glorified above all.

Ugly Betty

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

It was only last week that I had my trial make-up. I loved the result but that was when my skin was clear. Right now, it’s so obvious that I looked stressed. With what the pimple proliferation. I was able to get a facial because the 2 times I went to the facial center, it was closing time.I mean, I’d arrive after 8 pm when they were no longer accepting clients. I was soo pissed off, really.

Now, I don’t know how the make-up artist will cover my pimples. He/she…err..Cheska of Red Salon was good but I doubt if he/she will make me beautiful. Oh I feel so ugly nowadays. I can’t wait for Saturday when I can just relax. Right now, I just can’t.Yet.

I hope by Saturday I can pamper myself. That is, if I still have the budget. Pffft.

Stress. Sucks. Shucks.
